intended for a plot to be created to the rear of a pair of semi-detached homes in Nevill Rd, Hove, owned by our dear friend and colleague Mr Paul Jaconelli. Sadly, Paul experienced a short but devastating illness and passed away in 2021. He had for many years envisaged carving off a third of his 2 properties to provide a new plot sufficient for development. Paul had been granted consent to build although, once again the foundation work required proved extremely challenging and prohibitively expensive. The Green Mews project demonstrated that CLT buildings are eminently suitable for restricted spaces with a challenging access. Paul commissioned CLT Structures LLP to draw up a revised design and seek to amend the planning consent. The illustration is an accurate representation of Paul's instruction. Negotiations with Paul's estate are ongoing and perhaps we may still deliver Paul's legacy.

BRIEF

To rationalise and develop the area to the rear of Paul's #2 properties in Nevill Rd, Hove.
To design a small but beautiful home in a space that would otherwise remain derelict for the foreseeable future.
Deliver a home that could serve as a starter home, a home for a developing family, a retiring couple or simply as a holiday let/city break space for visitors to the City of Brighton and Hove.
The building should be predominately pre-fabricated using responsibly sourced, sustainable materials to an energy efficient design. Indeed, Paul's desire was to at least match the performance levels achieved by the Green Mews project, such was Paul's commitment to support Brighton & Hove's progressive "green credentials".
